About Novella

Novella was born when Washington, D.C. sommeliers Jen Anderson and Karl Kuhn met working at one of Virginia’s top wineries. They shared an encyclopedic palate, a relentless curiosity, and a global perspective rooted in local experience. With years of driving Michelin-starred wine programs and seasons of working harvest between them, they stopped dreaming of “someday” and made a project of their own.

Novella is the result: low-intervention, honestly made wines that let Virginia speak for itself. No heavy-handed winemaking: just fruit, fermentation, and a sense of place. The name Novella comes from the belief that every bottle tells a story. Not a grand manifesto, but a well-crafted, lively tale in a bottle: bright, heartfelt, and meant to be passed around the table.
